Rob Gernon serves as a Principal of Britt, Peters and the Structural Division Manager in the firm’s Greenville, South Carolina headquarters. He has 20+ years of experience in Structural Engineering and has been involved in a wide variety of building projects.
As a Registered Professional Engineer, his experience includes high-rise, commercial, healthcare, historic mills, K-12, higher education, industrial, multi-family, logistics, and national brand prototype projects. Rob has performed numerous structural assessments on existing structures including historic mills, post-tornado damage assessment from the Joplin, MO EF-5 tornado (2011), and post-hurricane damage assessments from Hurricane Wilma (2005) and Hurricane Michael (2018).
With a B.S.(2001) and M.S.(2003) in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, Rob conducted graduate research on the testing requirements for hurricane shutters and authored the 2003 thesis titled "Evaluation of ASTM E 1996-03 as a Performance Standard for Hurricane Shutters."
