August W. Smith Building

Britt Peters provided structural engineering design for the renovation and vertical expansion of the August W. Smith building. Design included evaluating the circa 1926 reinforced concrete building frame for current code prescribed vertical and lateral loading and designing the building for an addional 2 floors of wood structure. The expansion increased the building height to a total of 5 stories. The finished project includes 45 apartment units, 3600 SF of ground-level retail and 4200 SF commercial space on the basement level.
